The college’s International Language Lab serves language instruction courses offered throughout the year.
Instructors using the lab’s teaching console can provide group or individualized instruction to students seated at individual carrels. Linking student headsets with the teacher console allows instructors to arrange pair and group work and to communicate with the entire class or single out an individual student for extra help.
Instructors also use a scanner built into the digital language lab software to project images for instruction - anything from coins, stamps and menus to Japanese Kanji characters and the Russian Cyrillic alphabet.
Although the lab may not be used in every course section, the college currently offers language instruction in:
- American Sign Language
- Arabic
- Chinese
- English as a Second Language
- French
- German
- Italian
- Latin
- Japanese
- Russian
- Spanish
